Samadhi and vipassana are clearly separated in the east, importance of understanding each khandha, khandas and self, importance of samadhi, investigating not just observing, asubha practice to overcome greed and hate (not taught in the west), staying with unpleasant feelings, how Luangta helped Anagamis to overcome avijja, teaching is much more basic in the west, “when there is sati there are no kilesas”, body investigation leads to Anagami, attachment boils up the khandhas, can't understand the nama khandhas before the body, Luangta's rapid progress – due to solid samadhi, sila/samadhi/panna support each other, anatta – not self, what we need to know to practise, what is boredom? Only the heart can let go – can't be forced to – can only be taught, sati – short cut to enlightenment, hindrance of views and opinions, delusion and the nama khandhas, the training is too tough for most people, westerners & conceit.
